He has studied for eleven years with Mercedes Esteves, Cesar López, and Silvio Rodríguez Cárdenas in the “Conservatorio de Música Amadeo Roldan de la Habana”, where he received an honor diploma and the national piano award. During these years Lugo was also attending classes at the “Instituto Superior de Música de la Habana” with the prestigious Russian pianist, Valery Kamichov.
Lugo obtained a bachelor in music and a master in Fine Arts at the “Conservatorio Tchaikovsky” of Moscú. He realized master studies of aesthetic in the “Superior de Arte de la Habana” and cinema history in the “Universidad de La Habana”.
For his artistic merits he became member of the “Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba”.
Lugo has been invited to the “Festival Internacional Gran Fiesta of the Royal Festival Hall” (London), “Festival Latinoamericano in Villa Gessell”(Buenos Aires), Festival Internacional del Grek (Barcelona). He has been jury memeber at the first “Festival Nacional de Arte Lírico” in La Habana and at the fifth “Festival Internacional and Music Contest” in the Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires).
He also coordinated and realized an international cycle: “The piano: “ reflex of the social human evolution”, five scheduled dates at the 6th “Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires” in the Teatro Colón.

Кубинский пианист и композитор Луис Луго
родился 12 ноября 1957 года в Гаване. Первые уроки музыки он получил от своей матери Мерседес Луго, фортепианного педагога и хорового дирижера, и отца, Мануэля Борхеса, музыкан та любителя.
Незаурядные музыкальные способности мал енького Луиса сразу же обратили на него внимание преподавате лей Музыкальной школы Амадео Рольдана в Гаване. Успехи ма льчика были столь значительны, что по результатам первого года занятий в школе Луго был сразу переведен в четвертый класс.
По окончании школы Луис поступил в только что открывшийся на Кубе Высший институт искусств в класс советского пианиста и педагога Валерия Камышова, лауреата пятой премии II Международного конкурса им. П.И. Чайковского в Москве. Ученик народного артиста СССР Я.В. Флиера, Камышо в за год подготовил Луго к поступлению в Московскую консерваторию. В 1978 году молодой кубинский пианист становится уче ником народного
артиста РСФСР, проф. Р.Р. Керера. Значительное влияние на его творческое формирование в годы обучения в Московской консерватории оказали занятия с лауреатом Международного конкурса имени Маргариты Лонг, ассистенткой Р.Р. Керера Ириной Смородиновой и доцентом класса специального фортепиано, заместителем декана фортепианного факультета В.И. Носовым.
После блестящего окончания Московской консерватории в 1983 году, Луго посвящает себя карьере концертирующего пианиста.
Выдающиеся виртуозные данные снискали Луису Луго славу кубинского Горовица. Музыкальные критики сравнивают его игру с исполнительской манерой Иосифа Гофмана, Симона Барера,Леопольда Годовского и Дона Фридмана. Но Луго не только обладатель феноменальной природной бегл
ости. Он также известен как не имеющий себе равных пианист импровизатор, прославившийся своими импровизациями на основе фольклорного и, прежде всего, ибероамериканского материала. Впрочем, Луис Луго не менее известен и как джазовый импровизатор, и как автор фортепианных транскрипций классических произведений мирового музыкального репертуара. Среди джазовых
музыкантов импровизаторов наиболее близки Луго по исполнительской манере его великий соотечественник кубинец Чучо Вальдес и американец Кит Джаррет. Перу Луго принадл ежат ставшие широко известными концертные парафразы на темы Игнасио Сервантеса,Эрнесто Лекуоны, Астора Пьяццоллы и други х латиноамериканских композиторов. Каталог сочинений Луго включает как произведения крупной формы: концерты, сонаты, рапсодии для фортепиано с оркестром и в сопровождении ансамбля кубинских ударных инструментов, так и произведения малых форм, в том числе,песенно танцевальную музыку, написанную по заказу радио и телеканалов Кубы и Аргентины ― страны, ставшей в 1995 году второй родиной Луго.
За последнюю четверть века кубинский пианист выступал с сольными концертами в крупнейших залах Испании, Италии,России, Великобритании, Чили, Аргентины и Кубы.
Основу его академического фортепианного репертуара составляют произведения композиторов романтиков: Шопена, Листа,Скрябина, Рахманинова и Франка.
Уникальное сочетание афрокубинской хари змы, стихийной мощи и европейского академизма превратили Луиса Луго в одного из самых ярких и самобытных латиноамериканских пианистов его поколения.

Geboren in Kuba. Studierte Piano mit Mercedes Esteves, Cesar López, Silvio Rodríguez Cárdenas am Musikkonservatorium “Conservatorio de Música Amadeo Roldan” in Havanna. Ehrendiplom und besondere Auszeichnung für seine hervorragenden Leistungen von der kubanischen Regierung. Parallel studierte er mit den preisgekrönten russischen Pianisten Valery Kamichov am Konservatorium “Instituto Superior de Música“ in Havanna. Studienabschluss (Magister)am Konservatorium Tchaikowsky in Moskau.
Weitere Studien mit den Meistern aus Russland Rudolf Kerer, Irina Smorodinova und Victor Nosov. Weiterbildung in diversen Kunstrichtungen wie: postgraduate in Kunst-Ästhetik am „Instituto Superior de Arte“ in Havanna sowie postgraduate über Filmgeschichte an der Universität von Havanna. Aufgrund seiner großartigen künstlerischen Leistungen wurde Luis Lugo Mitglied der kubanischen Schriftsteller- und Künstlervereinigung „Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba“. Folgende Einladungen als Pianist: Royal Festival Hall/London, internationales Musikfestival „Grek“ in Barcelona, Spanien, Italien, Russland, Großbritannien, Angola, Argentinien. Jurymitglied des ersten internationalen Lyrikfestivals in Havanna und des fünften internationalen Musikwettbewerbes in Teatro Colón/Buenos Aires.
Teilnehmer des internationalen Musikwettbewerbes „de Viotti de Vercelli“ in Italien.
Beim sechsten internationalen Musikfestival von Buenos Aires, organisierte und realisierte er fünf Auftritte zum Thema „Das Klavier: Widerschein der sozialen Evolution des Menschen“
Luis Lugo war exklusiver Künstler der Agentur Albert S.L. Spanien 1992 sowie von „Latín Touch Entertainment“ London 1993. Sein selbst komponiertes Konzert „Luis Lugo piano de Cuba“ wurde vom kubanischen Kulturministerium zum nationalen Interesse erklärt. Diese Auszeichnung erhielt Luis Lugo auch von der Stadt Jujuy und Mar del Plata/Argentinien. Zahlreiche internationale Kritiken belegen, dass Luis Lugo als einer der interessantesten Musiker Kubas zu bezeichnen ist.
